The GMC Acadia midsize SUV adds a turbocharged engine, nine-speed transmission, and the latest infotainment system as part of a facelift for the 2020 model year, GM has announced.

The available 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine will join the 2.5-liter inline-four and 3.6-liter V-6 carryover engines. It will be standard on the SLT and Denali trim grades. The engine uses tripower valvetrain technology to vary valve lift across the RPM band to optimize performance for various driving situations.

GMC will offer the 2020 Acadia in four trims, including the base SLE, SLT, new AT4, and Denali. The AT4 model will offer more aggressive exterior styling. The Acadia can be purchased in two- or three-row versions to seat five, six, or seven passengers.

The Acadia adds a nine-speed transmission that's designed to provide a greater balance of performance and efficiency. It also eliminates the traditional shifter in favor of electronic shifting, which frees up the center console.

The Acadia entered its second generation with the 2017 model year.
