Ford has extended how long its plants in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico will remain closed.

Ford had originally planned to resume operations at those plants on March 30, but that will no longer be the case.

“We are assessing various options and working with union leaders – including the United Auto Workers and Unifor – on the optimal timing for resuming vehicle production, keeping the well-being of our workforce top of mind,” said Kumar Galhotra, Ford’s president of North America.

The company did not have a new date as to when it plans to resume operations, but stated that it will provide additional updates as details are confirmed.
