Spain Fleet Registrations Continue to Slide

Fleet registrations in Spain dropped 6.8% in October, which was an improvement over the 17.1% decline in September. However, registrations for fleet in the country, year-to-date, were still up 14.4% according to Dataforce.

The leading manufacturer of registered fleet vehicles for the month was Volkswagen, which was also the leading fleet OEM for the U.K. during the same month, reports Dataforce. Volkswagen’s top fleet seller for October 2018 in Spain was the Polo, which posted a 494.3% growth and led the small passenger car segment in the country for the first time since January 2012.

Following Volkswagen was Peugeot in second place, followed by Toyota, and BMW, in terms of fleet registrations. BMW’s SUV line-up represented 58.7% of all fleet registrations for October.

Regarding fuel type for newly registered company cars, the share of diesel vehicles fell 60% for the first time in the Spain fleet market. Meanwhile, alt-fuel powertrains saw gains for the month, with battery-electric cars and bi-fuel vehicles achieving new records. The Renault Zoe was the leading EV fleet vehicle for the month.
